Strong appeared in my yard one day out of nowhere, and she was in truly heartbreaking condition. She was extremely underweight and barely hanging on, with a severely swollen head and forehead and an injury to her mouth that left part of her lower lip missing, exposing her gums and teeth. But somehow, this tiny girl kept going. Strong underwent surgery to repair her lower lip and another procedure behind her ear to drain an abscess. Through everything she endured, she continued to fight. Her determination and willingness to live are exactly what inspired her name. Today, Strong is a completely different cat. She is loving, playful, calm, and incredibly sweet. She has the funniest little meow—it sounds like a tiny pterodactyl! She loves playing with other cats and even enjoys romping around with her Chihuahua friend. Strong is also a girl who knows exactly what she wants. She loves shiny things and has a particular fondness for playing with the rosary around her person's neck. She can fall asleep just about anywhere—her cat tree, the couch, or wherever she happens to get comfortable. One of Strong's cutest quirks is her love of having some quiet time in her playpen. A few times a day, she likes to go in there to enjoy her wet food in peace. When she's ready, she'll sit beside the playpen and meow to let you know, "I'm ready to eat!" Once she's inside, she'll happily enjoy her meal and then sit there looking at you when she's finished, making it very clear that she's ready to come back out. She has definitely mastered the art of communicating with her humans! Because of the abscess and surgery she went through, Strong has the most adorable little head tilt. Whether she's walking, running, or simply looking up at you, that sweet tilt makes her even more endearing. Strong has been through more than any little cat should have to endure, yet she came through it with a gentle heart and so much love to give. She isn't defined by what happened to her. She's defined by the fact that she survived it. Now, Strong is ready for the next chapter of her life—a safe, loving forever home where she can continue being her playful, quirky, affectionate self and finally be spoiled the way she deserves. Strong survived. Strong healed. And now Strong is ready to be loved.
