She's a social girl who enjoys being around people and other dogs and is ready to find a family who will welcome her into their lives. One of Pecas' most noticeable features is that she doesn't have a tail, but that certainly doesn't stop this happy girl from showing off her personality. Pecas does well around dogs and people. Cats are not the best match for her, so a cat-free home would be the better choice. As a Terrier mix, Pecas may share traits commonly associated with Terriers, including being bright, curious, playful, affectionate, and full of personality. Terriers often enjoy exploring, going for walks, playing, and being involved in whatever their families are doing. Pecas would benefit from regular exercise, mental enrichment, positive-reinforcement training, and plenty of opportunities to spend time with her people. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Like any rescue dog entering a new environment, Pecas will need time to understand her family's routine and expectations. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so her adopter should be prepared to continue working on house manners as needed, leash walking, basic commands, recall, household boundaries, and positive socialization. Patience, consistency, and positive-reinforcement training will help Pecas learn while also building trust with her new family. The 3-3-3 Rule 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand her new household routine 3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home Every dog adjusts differently, so these are guidelines rather than strict deadlines. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Pecas is not currently spayed. She is also due for vaccinations and flea prevention. She currently appears clean and well cared for, but appearance alone cannot confirm overall health. Her medical records and current veterinary needs should be reviewed with a veterinarian. Her future care should include spaying, appropriate vaccinations, parasite and flea prevention, routine wellness examinations, dental care, quality nutrition, healthy weight management, nail care, and any additional treatment recommended by her veterinarian. Because Pecas does not have a tail, her adopter should also share any available history about this with her veterinarian. If the reason for the missing tail is unknown, a veterinarian can determine whether any further evaluation is necessary.
