About Spunky & Hurricane - NC
Courtesy Post Spunky (mom) and her son Hurricane came into care in mid-July, 2026. Spunky had shown up on her foster parents porch as a starving kitten in May, 2026. She was so small, no one imagined that she had kittens until she was spayed 5/29/26. She was released to her home territory following her surgery and continued to come for meals at the foster yard until a rain storm in July drove the little family to a neighbor’s porch. Spunky and her three kittens were captured and moved inside. Despite living outside for a long period, Spunky was never feral. The foster parents have been able to assemble a team of volunteers to help handle the kittens so they are also social. Hurricane is a brown tabby male who looks just like his mother. He has always been very attached to her. This attachment was evident even when he had two siblings with which to play. The siblings have gone on to successful adoptions in the past few weeks. It is our opinion that Spunky and Hurricane should remain together. Spunky and Hurricane live with 4 other cats and get along well with everyone. Their favorite place to be is on a cat tree looking out on the woods where they used to live but they have not tried to leave the house at all. They play with each other and with a very active 3 year old cat in the foster home. Favorite toys include a laser pen, springs, and small catnip mice. It’s been really fun to see Spunky enjoy toys that she probably never experienced before. Neither Spunky nor Hurricane are particularly cuddly but they like to be in the same space with their foster parents. If she weren’t named Spunky early in her rescue, she would be named Perfection. She truly is the perfect cat! She is quiet, keeps a regular schedule, uses the litter box perfectly and took wonderful care of her kittens. Hurricane is a wonderfully playful youngster who enjoys toys, the scratching posts, climbing furniture and sleeping on any item of clothing that is left on the bed. Both are addicted to catnip and will roll around with any item that contains it. If you are looking for a pair of young cats with whom to share your space, these two are a great choice. They are calm, attached to humans that they know, and really easy to care for. They eat and spend the night in the bathroom they have always used. They spend their days in the house with the other cats playing chase and napping. Although they have not been exposed to children or dogs, they are calm enough that these should not be a problem. Both Spunky and Hurricane are fully vaccinated, spay/neutered, microchipped and ready for adoption. They are located in Greensboro NC.
