About Mars
Mars is a female cat who has tested positive for feline panleukopenia (panleuk), a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening viral disease. Mars requires prompt veterinary care, appropriate isolation, and supportive treatment to help manage her illness and give her the best opportunity for recovery. Treatment may include fluids, nutritional support, medications to control vomiting and diarrhea, and close monitoring for complications. The level of medical care, isolation, and supportive recovery Mars requires exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment.Despite her diagnosis, Mars remains resilient and is doing her best while receiving supportive care. Mars needs a safe, compassionate placement where she can receive immediate veterinary evaluation, appropriate isolation from other cats, supportive treatment, and close monitoring throughout her recovery. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to medical concerns beyond our scope of care. If you are interested in adopting, fostering, or rescuing Mars, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov. When emailing, please leave a callback number.
