About Jade
**Medical Final**Rescue or Dedicated Adopter NeededJade is looking for a rescue or dedicated adopter who can provide close monitoring and continued medical care. She has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), a type of skin cancer, after several ulcerated skin masses were removed from her abdomen. The good news is that the masses that were removed were completely excised, meaning no cancer was seen at the edges of the submitted tissue. However, she has already developed multiple skin masses including one that has now ulcerated, so she appears to be prone to developing additional skin tumors. These lesions are typical sun induced. For this reason, she would benefit from a home where her skin can be monitored closely and where prolonged or excessive sun exposure can be minimized. This does not mean she can never enjoy time outside, but avoiding prolonged direct sunlight—particularly during the strongest part of the day—and providing access to shade will be important. She has already undergone two surgeries to remove skin masses and two procedures to repair aural hematomas (blood-filled ear flaps). These aural hematomas occur secondary to infections, and she was most recently treated for an ear infection on 8/27/26. We are asking for rescue placement or a dedicated adopter who can give her the close observation and follow-up care she deserves. Her future caregiver should be prepared to regularly check her skin for new lumps, crusts, sores, or areas that do not heal and seek veterinary attention if new or changing lesions are found. They will also need to be prepared to manage her intermittent ear infections (this may include regular flushes, or intermittent ear medications as prescribed by the adopter or rescues veterinarian). This dog deserves the opportunity to live in a home where someone knows her history, can advocate for her medically, protect her from excessive sun exposure, and monitor her closely. We are hoping a rescue or committed adopter will see her as more than her medical history and give her the chance to enjoy a comfortable life outside of the shelter.Needs rescue by 10/14
