Tana — 8 Months Old • Gentle • Sensitive • Blossoming with Routine (Updated 9/24/26) Tana is an 8‑month‑old Border Collie–Australian Shepherd mix who is slowly discovering that the world can be safe, predictable, and kind. It’s possible she and her littermates were kept outdoors with very little human interaction, and she is learning many basic experiences for the first time. Personality & Temperament Tana is a soft, sweet, and gentle girl. New environments can feel overwhelming, and she needs time to adjust when her routine changes. For example, when moved to a different playgroup room, she needed about half a day before she felt comfortable enough to move around freely. Even with her sensitivity, she communicates beautifully with other dogs and has done well socially — she lets them know when she needs space and respects their signals too. She has begun cautiously approaching her caregiver for interaction instead of avoiding contact, a huge step forward in her confidence. Learning & Progress Tana is truly starting at the beginning, and she’s making steady, meaningful progress. She is excellent in her crate and is now eating well. She is still learning how to walk on a leash. She didn’t know how to potty on leash at first. In her first training class, she wasn’t ready to learn commands, so the focus was on treats, toys, and keeping everything positive. During her bath, blow‑dry, and nail trim, she was scared but tolerant, remaining still throughout. She vomited during her first car ride, so her comfort with travel is still being assessed. Once she feels safe, her playful side emerges — chasing the water hose is currently her favorite activity. Ideal Home Tana will thrive in a home that understands decompression and gentle guidance. She needs: A calm, patient adopter A quiet household, ideally with another dog A predictable routine Positive reinforcement training Space and time to adjust at her own pace With consistency and compassion, Tana will continue to blossom. She is a tender, sensitive soul who is learning how to trust, and once she feels comfortable, she becomes active, playful, and deeply endearing. Tana is currently being fostered in Plymouth, IN.
