About Bedros

Bedros has always preferred to experience life from the edges. He came to Revelation Gardens several years ago with his two brothers after being rescued from a difficult situation. At some point before coming into our care, Bedros suffered a terrible injury when a fishhook became embedded in his lip. His physical injury healed, but Bedros has remained deeply cautious around people. His brothers eventually found homes of their own. Bedros stayed. Over the years, we’ve learned not to ask Bedros to become a different cat. He’s a quiet boy who likes to observe everything happening around him from a comfortable distance. Occasionally he’ll venture closer—particularly when food provides sufficient motivation—but generally, Bedros prefers not to be touched or approached. What he does enjoy is a peaceful place to live, the company of the world around him, and a good spot in the sunshine. Maybe one day Bedros will decide to lower his guard a little more. Maybe he won’t. Either is okay. At Revelation Gardens, Bedros doesn’t have to learn to sit in someone’s lap or accept affection in order for his life to have value. Right now, what he seems to want most from people is something very simple: the freedom to just be. For an extraordinary person who understands cats like Bedros and would be happy to provide a quiet home without expecting physical affection in return, we would always consider what might be possible. Until then, Bedros has a home here—sunshine, meals, safety and all. Sometimes sanctuary means giving an animal everything they need. And sometimes what they need most is for us to stop asking for anything in return. I’d classify him Right Home Required , rather than completely closing the adoption door. And I think this is one of those profiles where the photo strengthens the story . I wouldn’t worry that he’s not posing beautifully for the camera. That picture says Bedros—sunshine, watching, peripheral, comfortable on his terms. I’d use it.
