About Rocky

ROCKY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Rocky Best Guess for Breed: Jack Russell terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of August 2026 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 9.7 lbs Gets Along With: Rocky does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster homeSpecial adoption considerations: Rocky was rescued from a hoarding situation in South Carolina. He has not been well socialized with new people and has lived his whole life with other dogs. New nosies, cars, bikes, and other things may create fear and anxiety. He will need a patient adopter who can give him time to come out of his shell and learn that the world is a wonderful and welcoming place. And because he is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show him the ropes.Rocky Is Looking For: His forever home, filled with snuggles and opportunities to see the world! One where he is a cherished part of a family. He's very sweet, and SO ready to be a Real Dog. Extra patient and loving humans who introduce him to new places and people at his pace are exactly what he wants! Along with quality kibble, a cushy dog bed, and endless snuggles. You know what you get out of adopting a dog like that? An incredibly sweet and grateful dog who gives you all those adoring gazes, all the love and loyalty in his body, for all his days. What do you say? Is he the one for you? Are you his new chapter and forever home? What My Foster Says About Me: Rocky can be a shy and timid boy who will need a patient, understanding adopter willing to give him the time and space to build trust at his own pace. While he can be hesitant around people, he has shown that he is capable of making progress in a comfortable environment. He enjoys spending time in the backyard and will happily come inside on his own. Rocky truly comes out of his shell around other dogs! During playdates with a familiar dog, he transforms into a happy, playful pup, showing off his personality and even initiating play. A home with a friendly, playful resident dog could be a wonderful fit for Rocky and help him gain confidence as he continues to settle in. Rocky also enjoys walks but will need continued work building confidence with a leash. He eats his kibble but can be selective with treats, preferring soft ones over crunchy options. Rocky will thrive with an adopter who can celebrate the little victories, respect his boundaries, and help him discover that the world isn't such a scary place. With time, patience, and the companionship of another dog, this sweet boy has so much potential to blossom. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
