About Hunter *LOCAL*

To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: 2 years (as of 7/7/26) Weight: 50 lbs (as of 9/13/26) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Hunter wants to be your new best friend! This handsome boy is going to be the perfect addition to someone's home! He is happy to meet and play with other dogs, adults, and kids - he is just one friendly, outgoing boy! Hunter is house trained and walks great on the leash. He does not enjoy the crate, but has been left alone non-destructive. At night he would prefer to sleep in a dog bed where he sleeps quietly all night. Looking for a walking or running partner? If so, Hunter is the dog for you! He rides well in the car, is playful, likes toys, and rarely barks. A fenced yard would be ideal so Hunter could run and play safely, but if that's not available he would be happy with leash walks. He is currently in foster with another dog and cat and doing well. He is good with kids, but is known to be jumpy and a little mouthy so this is something to consider with small children. An obedience course would be great for Hunter, he is so smart and loves to learn. This will help teach him good manners and skills, further socialization with other dogs and people, and will help build that very important bond between a dog and his human. Hunter is a gentle happy boy who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make his dream come true? Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family! Hunter’s story: He was rescued from a dog pound in Stilwell, Oklahoma Medical Note: This dog has tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia. This dog is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and is being treated/has been treated preventatively with a 28-day course of doxycycline. This dog is ready for adoption, though may continue to test positive for exposure to ehrlichia for some time. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
