About Starburst

Starburst (A1914054) is a spayed female German Shepherd mix currently thriving in a foster home while she waits for her forever family. She’s about 1 year and 9 months old and weighs approximately 57 pounds. In her foster home, Starburst lives with two other dogs—a playful 6-month-old pup and an older dog—and gets along wonderfully with both. She is social, adaptable, and enjoys having canine companions.Starburst is an energetic and playful girl who would love a home with space to run and someone who enjoys walks, outdoor time, and adventures. She’s also a smart cookie who already knows basic commands like sit, lie down, and even shake hands. She’s eager to continue learning with consistency and positive reinforcement. She rides calmly in the car and loves to play fetch—and she’s quite good at it. She recently enjoyed a Dog Day Out to Tingley Beach, where she handled a long hike very well and showed what a fun, active, and well-mannered companion she can be.In her foster home, Starburst is well-behaved and attentive. She rarely barks, but she is naturally protective of her space and does a great job watching over the yard, helping her foster family feel safe and secure. If you have a dog at home, a meet-and-greet is recommended to ensure a good fit. Starburst would thrive in a home that can match her energy, appreciate her intelligence, and enjoy both her playful spirit and her loyal, watchful nature. To learn more or meet Starburst, please email awdfoster@cabq.gov and reference Animal ID A1914054
