About Ruby (fka Sarah)
*Name: Ruby *Age: 3.5 years old *Current Weight: 74lbs *Rescued from: Louisiana Fostered in: New York*Adoption fee: $475 Meet Ruby Some dogs are impossible to meet without falling a little bit in love. Ruby is one of those dogs. She’s sweet, affectionate, silly, and an absolute lovebug with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. Ruby loves her people wholeheartedly and wants nothing more than to be part of a family again. For the last three years, Ruby was a beloved member of one family. When circumstances beyond Ruby’s control meant they could no longer keep her, her whole world suddenly changed.Ruby is now in foster, and watching her adjust has reminded us just how special this girl is. Her confidence is blossoming more every day. With each new experience, more of the happy, goofy, affectionate Ruby we know continues to emerge.Ruby truly loves kids. She previously shared her home with a growing toddler, and we’re continuing to see that same wonderful side of her now. Although there aren’t children or other dogs in her current foster home, Ruby has been enjoying regular playdates at one of our volunteer’s homes, where she spends time with a young child and three dogs.Ruby has now had positive experiences with children of different ages, abilities, and interaction styles, including children with special needs. She has shown a wonderfully patient, gentle, and accepting demeanor—another glimpse of just how much love this girl has to give.Ruby also loves meeting new people—occasionally with a little too much enthusiasm! She may bark or jump when she’s excited to say hello, and she’s currently working on controlling that excitement along with her basic commands and manners. With some men, Ruby may need a little extra time to feel comfortable and warm up.Once you’re one of Ruby’s people, though, prepare to be loved.Ruby has a wonderful balance of playful and laid-back. She loves a good game of tug-of-war with durable toys, enjoys horsing around with her favorite humans, and makes a great walking buddy—complete with the occasional grass-snacking pit stop. But one of Ruby’s favorite things in the world is simply being close to her people.Give her a cozy dog bed or a soft blanket and she’s happy. Invite her onto the couch and she’ll happily settle in. If she’s allowed on the bed with you, even better. And if you move? There’s a pretty good chance Ruby will reconsider her seating arrangements too.She isn’t trying to steal your spot—you are her spot. Ruby originally came into rescue as a puppy from Louisiana alongside her mom, Fiona, and her littermates. She was adopted and spent the next three years knowing the comfort and security of having a family of her own.Her life has changed a lot recently, but Ruby hasn’t lost the part of herself that loves people, loves family life, and loves with her whole heart. Now she just needs someone willing to give that heart a place to land.Ruby already knows how to be someone’s dog. She’s just waiting to be someone’s Ruby again. To apply to adopt, fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR FAQs
