About Rolls
Some girls are happy to ride shotgun. Rolls? She prefers the back seat—preferably with a stuffy in her mouth, a big grin on her face, and someone admiring her from the front. Rolls comes with a story, and like so many of our Pei People dogs, the people in her life weren’t always the best advocates for her. She and her buddy Royce went back and forth during a divorce, and at one point Rolls was living—or should we say existing—in a home with nearly 20 dogs and a couple kids. Many of those dogs eventually found their way to Pei People. When Rolls was being left outside during the day and started barking, she was taken to the shelter. Fortunately, her story didn't end there. Because Rolls is 100% Shar Pei girl, and she has some very definite opinions about how things should be run. At 35–40 pounds, she's on the smaller side, but don't let that fool you. Rolls is going to be the boss. If you're a seasoned Shar Pei person, you know exactly what we're talking about. Rolls may give another dog one good correction to make sure everyone understands the organizational chart. After that, we're expecting everyone to respect the chain of command. Other dogs in her future home will need to be comfortable with a confident female who likes to be in charge. She's also lived with cats—and thankfully, cats don't seem particularly interested in participating in the canine power structure. And honestly, Rolls would be perfectly happy to be your one and only. She doesn't need a pack to make her happy. What she really wants is her people. Because here's where Rolls' tough-girl reputation falls apart… This girl bonds HARD. Once you're her person, you're HER person. She wants to be close, snuggle on the couch, and be involved in whatever you're doing. Personal space? Rolls isn't familiar with the concept. Especially at bedtime... And that means Rolls isn't the dog for someone who works twelve-hour shifts, travels constantly, or plans to leave her home alone for 14 hours a day. She would be devastated. Rolls has spent enough of her life being passed around and left to figure things out on her own. What she needs now is a person or family who actually wants a dog who wants to be with them. She's also a car ride enthusiast. Nothing will make you smile quite like looking in the back seat and seeing Rolls cruising along with a stuffy toy hanging out of her mouth and that big Shar Pei grin on her face. ❤️ And then there's bath time. Just like a gorgeous Rolls Royce, this girl likes to shine. ✨ Unlike many Shar Pei, Rolls doesn't need to be convinced that a bath is a good idea. No wrestling. No bribery. No negotiations. Open the tub and Rolls will happily jump right in. She's beautiful, she's confident, she's affectionate, she's got a little attitude—and after everything she's been through, Rolls is ready for someone who will appreciate all of her. She may not believe in personal space. She may believe she's the CEO of the household. She may occasionally need to remind the other dogs who's in charge. Or she may decide that being your one and only is the perfect arrangement. But if you're looking for a Shar Pei girl who will adore her people, make you laugh, happily go for a car ride, jump into the bathtub, and then snuggle herself right into your side… Rolls might just be your girl. Rolls is ready to roll into her forever home. She is fostering in the Corona, CA area.
