About Rosemary *FH*

Rosemary is a quiet sweet girl who was a good momma to a litter of puppies when she came to us. She is still trying to figure out her place in the world and would benefit from a quiet home with a fenced yard. Before going into foster, Rosemary escaped from a volunteer while on a walk, and it took several days to catch her as she is very scared and unsure. She is now in a home of an experienced foster family who has a fenced yard and should still be considered a flight risk. Manners: Rosemary is housetrained and will stand at the front door when she needs to go out. Some days this is as little as one time. We do take her out on leash due to the apprehension she still has outside. She is a very quiet girl who uses her crate or under the desk as her safe place and likes to have blankets to cuddle with. She is a very strong bone chewer but has not shown interest in balls or soft toys. Health: Rosemary is heartworm positive and has started a "slow kill" regimen of medication which we have found to be much easier on dogs than other harsher methods. Heartworm is not contagious, and would have easily been prevented had she been on monthly HW preventative. She is now on monthly HW preventative and since coming to her foster home, her coat has really improved. She is spayed and up to date on vaccines. Other animals and children: We do not know how she is with children. Since she spooks easily, we are guessing she would retreat to her crate. She is fine with several other dogs in her foster home, of various sizes. She did have another foster who she really enjoyed playing with (see video below). Things to know: Rosemary is leash walked as she spooks easily. When she first arrived in foster, Rosemary wanted to stay in her crate and would bury herself under blankets, beds, any anything she could find. After a week, she stopped covering herself up and started preferring her crate to be in a more central area. Rosemary now shows interest in the goings on of the other dogs and the people in the household. She is not a fan of stormy weather. She is not a fan of the car and definitely needs to be in a crate. Ideal home: She will require a fenced yard and a patient family. She takes awhile to adjust and would do best in a quiet home.
