About OLIVIA (Local) SF bonded w/ Orio
Hi there. My name is OLIVIA (Ollio) and I'm here iin Maple RidgeHere is a bit of info about me:Breed: Spitz mixAge: 6 yrsGender: femaleWeight: 40 lbsHeight: 14 inchesCurrent location: Mission High: sweet, calm, shy, bonds well, enjoys outdoorsLeft in the freezing cold in Lebanon to fend for themselves at a young age, I was found on the streets roaming around and looking for food in the garbage. Me and my best friend Orrio were constantly harassed by passerbys. We were threatened with being shot, if not removed. Thankfully, a rescuer came through for usI'm a clever girlie and will never turn down a good cuddle. You'll find me sweet as honey. My foster says I am great in the house, calm outside and I don't bark a lot. I enjoy the great outdoors. So much so, that it would be best to go to a home with some decent sized property for me to run around. While very shy around people, especially men, my foster has been working on that. I will bark at men (including my foster's hubby) a lot when they are around me. I would appreciate you giving me the time to adjust and trust. When out in public I shy away from people, so socializing me is an important part of my training. Needless to say, I prefer to be at home.I have no aggressions at all and will wait to eat til told ok. I get along fine with other dogs. Not sure cats would be a good match. Older kids should be fine.I have been with my best friend Orio for several years so it will be important for us to be adopted together. We have been living with other dogs so that is fine with us but they should be large dogs. We do not get along well with little dogs.My foster says I am "lovely". I bond quite well, especially to women.Hoping a special adopter will see my awesome qualities and snatch me up (along with my best girlfriend, Orio, of course)!Energy Level: moderate-highI get along with:Dogs: big dogs only within the homeCats: noKids: noPrey drive: fairly high. My adopter needs to be willing to further help me with these behaviours, should they arise.Fears: none observed.Training: a bitLeash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home.Health notes:I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated & microchipped. The adoption fee for me and my buddy Orio together is a whopper deal at $800.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
